Victoria Elementary was founded in 1957 in what was considered the outskirts of town. Since original construction, many changes have taken place on campus. The cafeteria was converted from an outdoor eating area/covered patio to an enclosed multipurpose room with a stage. Eleven portable classrooms and one portable restroom have been added on the playground. Surprisingly, the playground did not have grass until 1978. In 2007, we celebrated our 50th anniversary.

Our school mascot is the eagle and our theme this school year is BELIEVE. Our staff BELIEVES in our students, colleagues, and ourselves. Our school-wide motto is Dare-to-Soar above the ordinary -- accept the challenge to become extraordinary! Blue and yellow are our school colors.

Our library is open the thirty minutes before and after school for students to have access to books and computers in our computer lab to take AR quizzes. Mr. Kaufhold is in charge of an after school intervention program; school-day extra help pull-out programs; parent education classes assisting parents to help their students learn; and teaching and organizing tutors to assist students in targeted areas.

We have the most outstanding groups of parent volunteers at Victoria. All volunteers are welcome and every volunteer is a valuable asset to our school.

Our PTO fund raises all year to pay for student programs such as field trips;"Say No to Drugs"; assemblies; playground equipment; Reflections program; Skills Day; and spirit wear prizes.

Our Outdoor Education Booster Club sends every sixth grade student to camp at no cost to the parents. This is made possible by a strategic fundraising campaign diligently orchestrated by the sixth grade team and sixth grade parents.

Annually, our students participate in the "Jump Rope for Heart" event where students may fund raise for the American Heart Association by jumping rope. The average amount donated by Victoria students is approximately $2,500 per year. Students enjoy giving back to their community.

A.O.K. Club (Acts of Kindness Club) is a club that begins in late November. Change, dollar bills, gift cards or gifts are collected for approximately two weeks. Teachers are asked privately if there is anyone in their classroom that they feel may be in the most need of help and the A.O.K. discreetly gives to those most in need.

During the winter holidays students in some classrooms fill out holiday cards to be sent to the service men, women, and disabled veterans.

We have recently started a school-wide bottle and can recycling program with containers placed throughout the school.

Community members have the opportunity to learn how to use the computer through a community partnership with SMART Riverside and the Riverside Unified School District here on the Victoria campus in the computer lab. We have classes that run at six-week intervals for people who meet certain income criteria. After completing the class, everyone in the class receives a free refurbished computer to take home. The city of Riverside provides free internet access to its residents.

We value our community partnership and look forward to another wonderful year. Thank you. SMART Riverside; TARGET STORES; ALTURA CREDIT UNION; ISLANDS; ELEPHANT BAR; EL TORITO; SHAKEYS; Sam's Club, Riverisde.
